A 37-year-old Pomona man was jailed Saturday morning on suspicion of drug and weapons violations after police searched homes in Pomona and Glendora.

Members of the Pomona Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit and Major Crimes Task Force served a search warrant at 7 p.m. at a home at 371 French Lane and during the execution of the warrant, officers in a police helicopter spotted a man running from the home holding a baggie, which he dumped into another yard, then ran back into the home, according to a statement from police.

Officers were directed into the neighboring yard and found the baggie, which contained a substantial amount of suspected narcotics, the statement said.

Members of the SIU convinced all of the people inside the home to surrender, including the man suspected of ditching the baggie in the neighboring yard, identified as Christopher Caprilli, police said.

Caprilli was arrested on suspicion of possession of sales of narcotics and outstanding arrest warrants, police said.

A search of the home turned up a 12-gauge shotgun that belong to Caprilli, who was booked into the Pomona city jail.

Additional evidence inside the home led officers to search another home in the 1300 block of Sierra View Drive in Glendora, where they located an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and a .22 caliber rifle. Both weapons were linked to Caprilli, police said.

Anyone with information regarding this incident was asked to call the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2085.
