A 73-year-old inmate at a federal prison in San Pedro died of coronavirus-related complications, the FBI announced Wednesday.
Bradley James Ghilarducci, who was serving an eight year sentence for receiving and distributing child sexual abuse imagery, reported to the Federal Correctional Institution Terminal Island’s health center on Sunday. He was taken to a hospital to be tested for COVID-19 after experiencing general weakness and fainting episodes, according to the Federal Bureau of Prison’s Office of Public Affairs.
Ghilarducci had long-term, pre-existing medical conditions and was pronounced dead on Monday. His medical conditions were not released.
On Wednesday, his test results confirmed that he had contracted COVID-19, the Office of Public Affairs reported. City News Service reached out to the Federal Bureau of Prisons to find out if other inmates at Terminal Island have tested positive for the virus, but did not immediately hear back.
Terminal Island is a low-security facility with 1,078 male inmates.
