A 23-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly wielding a knife inside a Glendale Galleria fast food restaurant, police said Tuesday.
Officers responded to the mall on Saturday after security contacted them regarding a woman who entered a closed restaurant, picked up a knife and refused to leave, according to Glendale Police Department Sgt. Christian Hauptmann. The name of the restaurant was not available.
Officers arrived and found the woman standing behind the cash registers while holding the “large knife,” Hauptmann said.
Officers tried to negotiate with her and asked her to put down the knife, but she didn’t respond to their commands and instead tried to open the registers.
She eventually put down the knife, stepped out toward the officers and was detained, Hauptmann said.
Officers said they believe the woman had also damaged a nearby business and stole property from another, according to Hauptmann. She was arrested for suspicion of burglary.
