Felony charges were filed Tuesday against a 25-year-old man who is accused of running over three pedestrians in Anaheim in an intentional attack targeting one of the victims, then fleeing the scene.

David Santiago Meza was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, failing to stop at a hit-and-run with injury, and vandalism, all felonies. He also faces sentencing enhancement allegations of inflicting great bodily injury.

Police were called just after 4:35 p.m. Thursday to the 800 block of South Beach Boulevard, said Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer.

He said police later determined Meza allegedly ran down one of the victims intentionally while behind the wheel of a 2004 Lexus RX330. The two other victims were injured unintentionally, Carringer said, adding that police were still trying to determine a motive for the attack.

The victims, two men and a woman whose names were not released, were hospitalized, but later released, he said.

Meza is also accused of vandalizing a motel wall, according to the criminal complaint.

Meza, who’s being held on $500,000 bail, appeared Tuesday for arraignment in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana, but the hearing was rescheduled to Dec. 16.
