A documented gang member accused of joining two others in holding a man at gunpoint and beating him up in the eastern Coachella Valley pleaded not guilty Tuesday to felony charges.
Albin Docnal Tadeo, 25, of Oasis was arrested last Wednesday stemming from an assault reported in the unincorporated community on March 26, at which time the victim, Daniel Hernandez, was held and gunpoint and attacked, suffering major injuries. A possible motive has not been disclosed.
Tadeo was arraigned at the Larson Justice Center in Indio before Riverside County Superior Court James Hawkins, who scheduled a felony settlement conference for July 19.
He remains held on $40,000 bail at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
Tadeo is accused in the attack along with Diego Marquez Martinez, 24, and Jesus Garcia Rodriguez, 18, both of Oasis. They are also documented gang members, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Tadeo and Martinez are charged with one count each of assault with a gun and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. Tadeo also is charged with witness intimation, while Martinez is charged with one count of robbery.
Martinez posted bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 7. Rodriguez also posted bond and has not yet been charged by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
Rodriguez was allegedly busted with 1.8 pounds of methamphetamine and arrested on suspicion of possessing the drug for sale, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Mariano Matos III
Matos said the suspects were arrested during the execution of three search warrants in Coachella.
Tadeo has prior felony convictions including burglary and witness intimation. Martinez and Rodriguez have no documented felony convictions in Riverside County.
