Two people were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash that investigators suspect was caused by an intoxicated driver, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
The collision occurred at around 4 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Railroad Canyon Road and Country Club Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators said they believe a driver who was traveling over the speed limit lost control and smashed into another vehicle head on, causing a collision with a third vehicle.
“Drugs appear to be a factor in the collision,” said Sgt. Brad Foster.
Two drivers were hospitalized in critical condition and underwent surgery while a third driver was uninjured, according to Foster.
Authorities did not say whether any arrests were made in connection with the crash.
