A motorcyclist killed in a crash on Ortega (74) Highway in San Juan Capistrano was a woman from Costa Mesa, authorities said Monday.
Kiana Nguyen was 34 years old, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
The crash was reported at 8:20 a.m. Sunday on the westbound Ortega Highway around Antonio Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Nguyen was riding her 2015 Yamaha R3 motorcycle at an unknown rate of speed, said Officer R. Knauss, who investigated the crash.
She “veered to the right across the right shoulder and struck the rock wall embankment,” Knauss said.
Paramedics took Nguyen to Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo where she was pronounced dead, the officer said.
