Battling light winds and hilly terrain, firefighters and helicopter support from the Los Angeles Fire Department gained control of a brush fire Thursday in the Hollywood Hills.

LAFD Arson investigators and Los Angeles Police Department detectives are questioning a possible suspect to determine if he had a role in starting the fire, said LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.

Fire crews were called at 3:37 a.m. to 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. where LAFD ground crews fought the less than one-eighth acre brush fire burning on the east side of the Cahuenga Pass while LAFD air support used water drops to extinguish the fire, Humphrey said.

The flames were extinguished in less than an hour.

LAFD ground crews will remain at the scene to overhaul and fully extinguish smoldering debris, Humphrey said.
