One person was arrested during a DUI checkpoint in Palm Desert, authorities announced Saturday.

The checkpoint was conducted between the hours of 6 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Country Club Drive.

A total of 994 vehicles were screened, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Robert Hatfield, a 48-year-old Banning resident, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, according to authorities.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
