Social media influencer Austin McBroom, his father and an investor are finalizing a settlement in which the investor sought a return of his nearly $50,000 advance in the 2022 Social Gloves 2 boxing event.
Ted Foxman had sued McBroom and the defendant’s father, Allen McBroom, on Nov. 18 in Van Nuys Superior Court, seeking at least $49,500, plus interest. Allen McBroom helped his son in handling the business dealings with the investor, according to Foxman’s court papers.
On Monday, Foxman filed court papers with Judge Virginia Keeny asking that a scheduled May 2 case management conference be delayed so that the settlement the parties agreed to can be finalized. No terms were divulged.
In the suit, Foxman maintained that he wired the money in April 2022, then exercised his option to get out of the show, demanding a return of his investment in July.
Through his attorney, 30-year-old Austin McBroom maintained he did not owe Foxman any money, according to the suit.
Social Gloves 2 was held Sept. 10 at what was then known as Banc of California Stadium. The venue name was changed in January to BMO Stadium. Austin McBroom lost his match to YouTuber AnEsonGib in the battle of social media stars.
