Flames engulfed a building in Wilmington Saturday, forcing firefighters to battle the blaze from outside for nearly an hour.
The fire was first reported at 4:20 p.m. at a 5,000-square-foot commercial structure at 2401 E. Sepulveda Blvd., in an industrial area between Alameda Street and the Long Beach (710) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange.
Heavy flames were showing from the building when firefighters arrived, and they began a defensive battle, working to drown the fire from positions outside to protect surrounding structures, Prange said. The flames were out at 5:13 p.m.
The fire department initially reported that the building had previously burned, but Prange later said it was “immediately adjacent to a previous burn.”
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.
