Two Louisville men who were the subjects of federal arrest warrants were arrested in Long Beach Tuesday after allegedly eluding police for nearly two years for alleged drug and firearm offenses.
Jerlen Lewayne Horton, 29, and Tryvest Summers, 28, were taken into custody Tuesday morning in Long Beach after a two-hour standoff at a high-rise luxury apartment in the 700 block of Ocean Avenue near East Shoreline Drive, according to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The suspects subleased the apartment under different identities, according to the ATF, which stated the pair had been on the run since Nov. 3, 2021, when they escaped during an arrest attempt in Kentucky. Investigators allegedly recovered guns and other evidence inside the apartment.
The pair are expected to be extradited to Kentucky.
Horton was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and drug and gun-related charges, according to the ATF. The U.S. Marshal Service had also issued a warrant for Horton, suspected of violating his supervised release.
Summers had state and federal warrants for alleged stolen property and firearm offenses, officials said. He was also accused of cutting off a court-ordered GPS monitoring device, according to the ATF.
