A 2-year-old boy whose death prompted a homicide investigation was identified Thursday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Deputies from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station were called at around 5:07 p.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of East Avenue P-15, near Eighth Street East, in Palmdale regarding a rescue call. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered an unresponsive 2-year-old boy, said homicide Lt. Arturo Spencer.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene and performed life-saving measures. Angel Flores Garcia was subsequently taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, the county medical examiner reported.

Fox 11 reported at least one adult at the residence was detained.

No arrests have been made, according to Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.

The county medical examiner has not determined a cause of death, pending a toxicology report.
