A fire that started in the garage of a two-story townhouse in the Sawtelle area of West Los Angeles Saturday spread into an attached unit, but firefighters kept it from spreading to adjacent units on either side.

The fire was reported at 7:17 p.m. Saturday at 11603 W. Mississippi Ave., between Barry and Federal avenues, said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange.

“Crews quickly deployed hose lines and contained the fire to the unit of origin, protecting the adjacent units on either side,” Prange said. The flames were out at 7:43 p.m.

No injuries were reported, he said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
