A man died Thursday after being taken to a hospital, prompting an investigation by the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.

Deputies responded to the intersection of 119th Street and Vermont Avenue, on the border between the unincorporated West Athens area and South Los Angeles, Thursday around 5:25 p.m. to a report regarding an injured victim.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died. His name was being withheld pending notification of relatives by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The extent of the victim’s injuries before being taken to a hospital remains unknown.

It was unclear if the death was the result of foul play.
