A man was shot to death in Rosemead Tuesday and a person of interest was detained at the scene, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 3200 block of Gladys Avenue, one block east of San Gabriel Boulevard and a few blocks south of Interstate 10, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies from the LASD’s Temple station responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call, where they learned the shooting stemmed from a family dispute, according to homicide Lt. Michael Modica.

The victim — whose age was not provided by authorities — was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information was provided about the person who was detained, but a sheriff’s department statement said “there is no outstanding danger to the general public and community.”

Anyone with information about the death was asked to contact the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at lacrimestoppers.org, or 800-222-TIPS (8477).
