A shooting took place as police were serving a search warrant in North Hollywood Monday, but no one was struck by the gunfire, authorities said.
Around 10 a.m. Monday, narcotics and gang enforcement officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood station were serving a warrant in the 11500 block of Gilmore Street, a few blocks west of Tujunga Avenue, according to the LAPD.
“They went into the backyard of the residence where they encountered a suspect with a gun and an officer-involved-shooting occurred,” police said in a statement. “The suspect, described only as a male adult, was not struck by gunfire and was ultimately taken into custody. No officers or bystanders were injured during this encounter.”
A SWAT team responded and was in the process of completing the search, and police said the nearby area would be impacted for several hours.
