A man allegedly trespassing in a Van Nuys home that was being renovated was arrested Thursday after allegedly refusing to leave the property, police said.

Officers were sent to the 13500 block of Hart Street about 1 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Tony Randal, 35, was taken into custody by police after the resident requested a “private person’s arrest,” and he was booked on suspicion of trespassing, according to police.

The homeowner told Fox 11 that the home was being remodeled, and when he went there to take out the trash. He saw a light on, found the man inside an upstairs room and told him to leave, but he refused and there was a scuffle.

The suspect had trespassed on the property previously, and he detained him until police arrived, the homeowner told Fox 11.

“He tried to attack me …,” the homeowner, identified only as Mike, told the station. “He’s lucky, I mean, I was armed, too. I’m licensed and armed. … I don’t feel safe in this neighborhood, to be honest with you.”

Paramedics treated the suspect for an unspecified injury, the station reported.
