A man was killed Thursday following a single-vehicle collision in Irvine.

Officers responded near the intersection of Campus and Turtle Rock drives around 3:34 p.m. Thursday to reports regarding a severe traffic collision, according to the Irvine Police Department.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics responded to the location to administer life-saving measures but pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Detectives determined upon further investigation that a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox SUV was traveling southbound on Campus toward Turtle Rock Drive moments before the vehicle hit a curb and rolled over onto its roof.

“The vehicle struck the curb at the end of Campus, traveled south, and rolled over onto the roof,” police said in a statement.

Investigators later learned that the driver was having a medical emergency before the collision.

His name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Anyone with additional information regarding the collision was urged to contact Traffic Detective Josh Balos at 949-724-7024.
