A man walking on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Sylmar was fatally struck Wednesday.
Firefighters and California Highway Patrol detectives responded to the freeway at Balboa Boulevard at 3:43 p.m. to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
It was unclear why the man was walking on the freeway. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
