The funeral will be held Saturday for a 13-year-old boy who took a train from the San Fernando Valley to visit his soccer coach in Lancaster and wasn’t heard from again.
The body of Oscar “Omar” Hernandez was found by the side of a road in Oxnard April 2.
The coach, Mario Edgardo Garcia-Aquino, has been charged with murdering Hernandez. He has been ordered to be held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned April 30 in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom.
Hernandez was last seen March 28 and reported missing two days later, according to District Attorney Nathan Hochman.
Authorities have not announced how Hernandez was killed.
The funeral Mass is set to begin at 3 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in East Hollywood, followed by a private burial.
