A pedestrian was fatally struck on the Hollywood (101) Freeway near the Hollywood Bowl, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.
CHP officers were called at 1:18 a.m. Tuesday to the southbound freeway and the Cahuenga Boulevard off-ramp where they found a BMW sedan blocking one lane of the freeway, a white sedan blocking the middle lanes of the freeway with deployed airbags and the pedestrian, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
The collision knocked the victim into the northbound lanes, according to reports from the scene.
The victim — whose name, gender and age were not immediately known — was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of three lanes of the southbound freeway for over three hours while they investigated the circumstances surrounding the collision, Kravig said.
