Relatives of workers who were arrested by immigration-enforcement agents at a south Los Angeles garment warehouse, helping to spark a weekend of protests, called Monday for the workers to be released.

As many as two dozen people were seen being taken out of the Ambiance clothing warehouse south of downtown Los Angeles Friday, as a large group of protesters looked on.

Relatives of those detained gathered outside the same warehouse Friday, saying they have been unable to obtain information about where the workers are being held, whether they are facing deportation or if they’ve been charged with a crime.

“I’m here today on behalf of my father and the dozens of families who were kidnapped by (Immigrations and Customs Enforcement),” one woman said. “My siblings, ranging from the ages of 4 months (to) 20 years, need and want our father back, especially my 4-year-old brother who has a disability. He’s asked about his father, to which we have responded that he’s working.

“I demand my father and the dozens of workers that were detained that day to have the right to speak to a lawyer,” she said.
