A 76-year-old woman who was struck and killed while crossing a street in Pacoima was identified by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office Tuesday.
Gloria Vasquez was outside a crosswalk when she was hit at 8:15 p.m. Monday in the area of Osborne Street and Haddon Avenue, authorities said.
The driver was traveling west on Osborne Street when he struck the woman, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman told City News Service.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
Police said the suspect, who did not stop to assist the victim, was arrested shortly after the collision.
Osborne Street was closed between Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Haddon Avenue while the crash investigation was underway.
