A brush fire that broke out Wednesday in the Santa Ana River bottom along the boundary separating Riverside and San Bernardino counties scorched roughly two acres before crews got it partially contained.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Key and Main streets, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency and Riverside Fire Department engine crews, along with San Bernardino County Fire Department personnel, encountered flames moving at a slow rate through thick vegetation in a mostly industrial area.
Riverside Fire Department crews departed the location after confirming the blaze was outside city limits.
Flames were largely concentrated on the San Bernardino County side of the river bottom, and Riverside County firefighters remained on hand in a supportive capacity, according to officials at the scene.
As of 4 p.m., crews were establishing hose lays around the perimeter of the brusher, which did not appear to be accelerating amid 100-degree heat.
No evacuation warnings were issued in the nearby community of Highgrove, or the city of Colton.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
