A woman holed up with an allegedly armed suspect inside a Santa Ana motel unit Sunday has surrendered to police, authorities said.
Officers were dispatched at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday to the Studio 6 Suites motel at 1501 N. Harbor Blvd., where the suspect refused to exit a unit at the motel, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. A SWAT team was called to the location at about 5:30 a.m.
The woman, who was believed to be a willing participant, gave herself up at about noon, police said.
“The suspect remains barricaded inside and continues to refuse exit,” according to a police statement. “Crisis negotiators are maintaining communication and continue working toward a peaceful resolution and voluntary surrender.”
