A suspect was arrested Tuesday in connection with a string of business break-ins in the Fairfax District.

Glass doors were smashed at as many as six businesses between the hours of 3 and 4 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A nail salon in the 7100 block of Melrose Avenue, two nearby restaurants and a dessert shop all had their front doors shattered and at one restaurant two suspects were recorded on surveillance video while in the act, police said.

Video shot outside Lala’s Argentine Grill showed multiple officers calling out suspects from inside the business, but no one turned out to be at the eatery.

In one break-in at a dim sum joint on the corner of Beverly and Sweetzer, tablets used to take orders were stolen. Some items were recovered when a suspect was later apprehended inside one of the businesses, police said.

No details about the suspect were immediately available.

The owner of Lala’s said the restaurant had been burglarized four times in the last year and a half, putting financial pressure on a business already facing financial challenges.

“All of the businesses are struggling. All the restaurants are not as full as we were six, seven years ago,” Horatio Weschler told KTLA as he worked to clean up before opening for lunch. “It’s very hard.”
