The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office Monday released the name of a 78-year-old man who died while hiking in the Hollywood Hills West area.

The man was identified as William Hasley, who was found in an area north of Nichols Canyon Road about 7:05 p.m. Saturday, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jamie Stewart.

The location is in the area of Runyon Canyon Park, a popular hiking destination in an area between Mulholland Drive and Hollywood Boulevard.

“LAFD Air Operations lowered a rescuers to the patient and medical treatment was administered,” Stewart said.

Hasley was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no other immediate information.
