A public service announcement encouraging people to consider becoming living organ donors will begin airing Thursday evening on the CBS comedy “B Positive” in connection with National Kidney Month.

The announcement features series stars Thomas Middleditch and Annaleigh Ashford encouraging people to visit the website BeLikeGina.org to see stories of living kidney donors. The site also includes information on the basics about being a living donor and a form to complete if visitors are interested in becoming living kidney donors.

The website gets its name from the name of Ashford’s character on the series, who offers to donate a kidney to an old high school friend (Middleditch). “B Positive” is inspired by creator Marco Pennette’s experience as a kidney recipient.

“The opportunity for deceased donation is incredibly rare, so the need for lifesaving and healing kidney transplants can only be met with living donors,” said Tom Mone, CEO of the OneLegacy Foundation, whose Donate Life Hollywood initiative created the website.

The foundation was created in 2011 to support the mission of OneLegacy, the nation’s largest organ, eye and tissue recovery organization.
