A possible gas leak prompted the evacuation of a home in San Pedro Monday, and a hazardous materials investigation was underway.
Fire crews responded around 8:40 a.m. to a single-family home in the 700 block of South Sepulveda Avenue and found damage to the home’s foundation and gas line, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
All occupants and pets were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported, the department said.
The cause of the damage has not been determined, but the gas company was called in “for hazard mitigation,” the LAFD’s Lyndsey Lantz said.
Fire department hazardous materials experts and the city Department of Building and Safety were also called to the scene, she said.
