Women suing Bill Cosby in Massachusetts “engaged in a campaign to assassinate” his reputation and character, the comedian is saying in a new countersuit.

Cosby calls their action “nothing more than an opportunistic attempt to extract financial gain from him.” He says they lie and are causing him grief.

Cosby filed counterclaims in federal court Monday, alleging the women made “malicious, opportunistic, and false and defamatory accusations” of sexual misconduct against him. Cosby is seeking unspecified monetary damages.

The suit targets Massachusetts accusers Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie.

The lawyer’s statement adds that the “false…opportunistic” allegations have caused Cosby to suffer loss of jobs and “mortification.”

The women claim Cosby defamed them by allowing his representatives to brand them as liars after they went public with allegations of rape and other sexual misconduct dating back decades.

This comes the same day that Boston University is taking back the honorary doctorate it gave Cosby in May 2014.

President Robert Brown reportedly said: “The [Board of Trustees] decision was based on a determination, supported by Mr. Cosby’s sworn deposition testimony, that his treatment of women has brought significant and lasting discredit upon himself and is inconsistent with the University’s mission and values.”
