“People love to talk s—t,” says Paris Hilton in a new Marie Claire magazine profile. “I’m used to it, over the years. I love how, anyone I meet, I always change their mind right away. I’m not what people think. It’s fun to kind of laugh with it and say I’m in on the joke.”

But now headlines are joking about another quote from the piece.

Talking about the sex tape that boosted her fame — and reportedly earned then-boyfriend Rick Salomon $10 million in the first year — Hilton said: “It’s really hurtful, because my whole life I really looked up to Princess Diana, all these elegant, amazing women, and I feel like [Salomon] just took that all away from me.”

Then she said it: “I could have been like that, but because of that tape, I will always be judged and thought of as whatever they say about me because of a private moment between my boyfriend and me.”

She calls it the one regret in her life and says: “I wish that I had never met that guy. I could not leave my house for months. I was so depressed, humiliated. I didn’t want to be seen in public.”

But at 36, Hilton still has her perfume hustle.

Hilton was “unfailingly polite” and patient for the dozen hours writer Iris Carmon shadowed her promoting her latest fragrance, Gold Rush, in Mexico City.

“For about 1,000 Mexican pesos, or around 50 bucks, it smells like the ‘warmth and radiance of gold and the rush of two hearts colliding,’ according to marketing materials,” Carmon writes.

Also this week, Hilton is taking grief for comments she made apparently forgiving Donald Trump for his “Access Hollywood” comments.
