Rodgers and Hammerstein didn’t mean for their song “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” to be used as political commentary in an Alabama Senate race.
But the “Sound of Music” was political enough (see: Nazis being fled), so perhaps the latest Randy Rainbow video is apt.
Starting with an edited interview of Kellyanne Conway, Rainbow proceeds to sing the 1950s tune with a sharper edge.
“I don’t know about you, but Broadway musical parody satire is my favorite form of political protest,” said a YouTube comment by Beth G.
Another said: “Thank you for taking time out from your busy busy concert schedule to create this video. It is just what I needed today to cheer me up while waiting to see if Ala lives up to its reputation as being the most ignorant, uneducated state in the Union.”
