Los Angeles County prosecutors announced Friday they had declined to file charges in four alleged sexual assault cases involving entertainment industry figures, including singer Marilyn Manson and writer Murray Miller.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, a task force assigned to review high-profile sex-assault cases reviewed an allegation of abuse against Manson — real name Brian Warner — dating back to 2011. Prosecutors declined to pursue any charges, saying the statute of limitations for the alleged offense had expired and also citing an “absence of corroboration.”
Miller, best known for his writing and producing work on HBO’s “Girls,” was also accused of sex abuse dating to 2011. Prosecutors reviewing his case determined that while the statute of limitations had not expired for a particular offense, there were “inconsistencies which cannot be overcome” in the evidence.
Prosecutors also declined to file any charges against rapper/fashion designer Jabari Shelton, commonly known as ASAP Bari. The alleged victim in that case said she “did not want to proceed with the criminal case,” according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Charges were also declined against Beverly Hills celebrity fitness trainer Michael Torchia, with prosecutors citing insufficient evidence.
