Kings of Leon will take the stage at Acrisure Arena Friday, supported by Phantogram.
The four-time Grammy-winning band is in the early phase of its “Can We Please Have Fun” tour, also the name of their ninth and most recent album.
Kings of Leon originated 25 years ago in Tennessee, formed by brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill, along with their cousin Matthew Followill. Their multi-guitar garage and southern rock formula built a steady following, including a stretch of five albums over seven years, each of which charted higher than the last.
The quartet’s fourth album, “Only by the Night,” includes two of their most well-known tracks, “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody.” The album itself reached multi-Platinum status, cementing Kings of Leon as one of the preeminent alt rock bands of the 2000s.
Self-described “street beat, psych pop” duo Phantogram will perform as the opening act.
After stopping in the Coachella Valley, Kings of Leon will play two more California shows in Berkeley and Santa Barbara before continuing the tour through the Pacific Northwest and Canada.
