Chain, the American Pop Cuisine concept founded by actor B.J. Novak, announced Tuesday it will open its first long-term residency next month at the Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park.
The pop-up restaurant will be located at Topanga Social inside the mall and will operate for a six-month run beginning Sept. 2, according to Chain.
The concept will feature chefs Roy Choi, Mason Hereford, Mei Lin and Calvin Eng, each contributing a signature creation inspired by nostalgic chain restaurant favorites, officials said.
Novak is an actor, writer and producer best known for portraying Ryan Howard on NBC’s “The Office.” He also served as a writer and executive producer on the Emmy Award-winning comedy series and has appeared in films including “Inglourious Basterds,” “Saving Mr. Banks” and “The Founder.”
“The same way people have a deep down primal love for the chains of our childhoods, we feel that way about the malls that have always featured them,” Novak said in a statement. “We love malls and we love chains. Celebrating mall food courts felt like the next step for us, and Westfield is the perfect partner to reimagine the food, brands and memories that shaped American pop culture.”
Chain is backed by Studio Ramsay Global. The concept features dishes inspired by well-known chain restaurants and American food culture through pop-up events, restaurant collaborations and consumer products.
Additional details about the pop-up’s menu, chef creations and other collaborations will be announced in the coming weeks, according to officials.
