“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” topped the box office for the fourth straight week, grossing $39 million this weekend in North American theaters, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
The blockbuster, which stars Tom Holland and Zendaya, has now grossed over $854 million domestically, Rentrak reported.
Second place went to another franchise film, “Insidious: Out of the Further.” The latest entry in the horror series that began with 2010’s “Insidious” opened with $25.3 million.
“The Odyssey” was third with $19.5 million Friday through Sunday in its sixth weekend.
“PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie” was fourth with $9.1 million in its second weekend, followed by “The End of Oak Street,” which made $9 million in its second weekend.
“Mutiny,” a new action film starring Jason Statham, opened with $7.5 million for sixth place.
Rounding out the top 10 releases were “Tony” ($5 million), a 25th anniversary re-release of “The Fast and the Furious” ($3.1 million), “Spa Weekend” ($3 million) and “Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma” ($1.9 million).
