Close to 17,000 Southern California Edison customers were without power after a swarm of equipment failures across the northeast section of Long Beach early Saturday.

The 11 separate outages all occurred at 12:59 a.m. and left 16,879 residences in the dark, according to the Edison outage map.

The outages were blamed on unspecified equipment problems, with Edison saying it expected to resolve most of them by 4 a.m.

Residents and businesses in downtown Long Beach endured two long power outages in July.
