Lottery, lottery, lottery: As Powerball fever hits much of the nation with a possible $800 million to $1 billion jackpot Saturday night, a lucky person in New York is already trying to figure out what to do with an estimated $165 million he or she won in the latest drawing of the multi-state Mega Millions lottery.
The winning numbers in that Friday night drawing were 11, 39, 51, 57, 75 and the Mega number was 2.
One jackpot-winning ticket — matching all five numbers and the Mega number — was sold in New York, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association, which conducts the game. Additionally, one ticket each with five numbers, but missing the Mega number, were sold in Maryland and Texas and are each worth $1 million.
No jackpot-winning tickets were sold in California for this drawing.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 258,890,850, according to the Mega Millions website. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 14.71.
The Mega Millions game is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands.
