Hikers were told to shelter in place Monday while a five-acre fire burned in the Chantry Flat area of the Angeles National Forest.
The blaze was reported early Monday afternoon in the area of Hermit Falls, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
No injuries were immediately reported, and no structures were threatened as of 2 p.m., the U.S. Forest Service and the Arcadia Fire Department reported.
“Many hikers are in the area and are sheltering in place until assisted evacuation occurs,” according to a U.S. Forest Service statement.
