A man seen running out of a marijuana-filled residence in Anaheim as authorities were serving a search warrant led police on high-speed chase Friday that ended in Placentia, police said.
Authorities countywide were notified of the chase about 8:20 a.m. as the suspect was northbound in a pickup truck on the Orange (57) Freeway approaching Yorba Linda Boulevard, according to Placentia police Lt. Eric Point.
A Placentia police officer picked up the pursuit southbound on Bradford Avenue from Yorba Linda Boulevard. The suspect continued south on Bradford “with complete disregard for all stop signs and traffic signals,” nearly colliding with two vehicles on Chapman Avenue, Point said.
The truck headed toward a dead-end, bursting through a construction zone at a high rate of speed, Point said. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which smashed into two stacks of concrete pilaster panels, he said.
The suspect, who was thrown from the vehicle, was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being arrested by Placentia police, the lieutenant said.
Investigators found a “large quantity,” about 100 pounds, of marijuana in the home, according to Point, who said police also sized a “large” amount of cash from the suspect upon his arrest.
The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was booked into the Anaheim Police Department’s jail on suspicion of felony evading.
