An attic fire that tore through the wood shake roof of an unoccupied home being renovated in Huntington Beach did $350,000 in damage, authorities said Sunday.

The blaze at the two-story home at 3572 Courtside Circle was reported at 5:50 p.m. Saturday and brought under control about 20 minutes later, said Huntington Beach Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff Lopez.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The homeowners told authorities the house was going to rented out beginning next week, Lopez said.

Orange County Fire Authority crews assisted the Huntington Beach Fire Department in putting out the fire.
