A car that was racing down a Santa Ana street with three trucks lost control and drove into a beauty salon with no injuries reported, authorities said.
The crash occurred just after 10 p.m. Wednesday at Elva’s Beauty Salon, 702 S. Main St., said Cmdr. Jose Gonzalez of the Santa Ana Police Department.
“Four vehicles were racing southbound on Main Street when the Lexus lost control,” Gonzalez said. “It struck a street light, a palm tree and a traffic signal and then collided with the business.”
Orange County Fire Authority Battalion Chief George Casario said the car was “100 percent inside the beauty shop.”
One driver left the scene, Gonzalez said. The vehicles involved were the Lexus and three trucks. Police and firefighters could find no one injured at the scene.
“Alcohol does not seem to be a factor,” Gonzalez said. “Speed does seem to be a factor.”
The accident was under investigation as the building was examined to determine whether removing the car from the interior would damage its structural integrity, Gonzalez said.
The weight-bearing walls did not appear to be damaged although the car went through some interior walls, Casario said.
