A seven-day streak of increases to the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County ended Friday with a decrease of one-tenth of a cent to $3.808.

The average price had increased 8.2 cents during the streak, including four-tenths of a cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. A 5.6-cent per gallon tax increase for road and mass transit programs went into effect Monday.

The streak of increases followed a run of 51 decreases in 58 days totaling 40.1 cents that dropped the average price to its lowest amount since April 2.

The average price is 6.4 cents more than one week ago and 13.8 cents higher than one year ago but 9.9 cents less than one month ago.

The Orange County average price recorded its second slight decrease Friday following a nine-day streak of increases, dropping two-tenths of a cent to $3.756. It is 5.4 cents more than one week ago and 14.1 cents higher than one year ago but 12.1 cents less than one month ago.

The nine-day streak of increases totaling 8.7 cents ended Thursday with a decrease of one-tenth of a cent. The streak followed a run of 46 decreases in 48 days totaling 42.4 cents that dropped the average price to its lowest amount since April 2.
