A 22-year-old man was charged Tuesday with an alcohol-fueled, hit-and-run fatal crash on the Riverside (91) Freeway near Brookhurst Street on the Anaheim-Fullerton border.
Tyler Christian Williams was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08%, driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, driving with a blood-alcohol level above. 08% or more causing injury, and hit and run with permanent and serious injury, all felonies, as well as a misdemeanor for driving on a suspended license, according to court records.
Williams also faces sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on another victim who survived.
The victim who died in Sunday’s crash was identified only as Maximiliano F., according to the criminal complaint. The other victim who survived was identified as Macruz R.
There was no immediate response to messages sent to the California Highway Patrol. Orange County sheriff’s coroner’s officials could not immediately provide details on the victim who died.
Williams was driving with a blood-alcohol level of .19, more than twice the legal limit, according to the criminal complaint.
Williams’ arraignment in the jail courtroom Tuesday in Santa Ana was rescheduled for Feb. 10.
