A 2-year-old girl was abducted Wednesday in Garden Grove, allegedly by her mother, prompting the issuance of an Amber Alert, but the girl was later found safe at a bus station in Palm Springs.
Authorities said the girl, Harmony Talley, was taken around 11:15 a.m. during a visitation supervised by a social worker.
The girl’s mother, 21-year-old Ileane Shelton, was scheduled to meet with the social worker and her daughter at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant at 13101 Harbor Blvd. around 11 a.m., Garden Grove police Lt. Nick Jensen said.
But just as the meeting was about to happen, a male suspect approached and pepper-sprayed the social worker, Jensen said. Shelton and the male suspect then took the girl and fled in a Toyota Rav4 driven by another suspect, he said.
The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert in response to the girl’s disappearance.
Just before 4 p.m., police reported that girl was found safe in a bus station in Palm Springs. Jensen said Shelton was also found and taken into custody, along with at least one other suspect. It was unclear if they were also found at the bus station.
