A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy was in the hospital Sunday after a horrific crash in Jurupa Valley that killed two people.
The hospitalized deputy, whose condition was not made public, was apparently driving to the scene of another collision when the deadly crash occurred.
The fatal collision, which appeared to also involve an Amazon delivery van and a car, was reported at 7:34 p.m. Saturday on Van Buren Boulevard at 56th Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A report from the scene indicated two people died but not a Riverside deputy, the CHP said. Two people were taken to a hospital.
KESQ reported that the deputy was one of the injury victims who were taken to the hospital.
Van Buren Boulevard was closed between Jurupa Road and Limonite Avenue for the investigation, the CHP said.
Jurupa Valley is an incorporated city just west of the city of Riverside.
