A shooting outside a party in the unincorporated Woodside community that injured six people remains under investigation Sunday.
It was discovered after the six people showed up at two local hospitals with gunshot wounds, officials with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
Deputies responded to a call of a possible shooting that occurred at 12:13 a.m. Saturday in the 17400 block of Mockingbird Canyon, where a “large size party” was taking place, investigators said.
When deputies arrived, they did not find any victims and sheriff’s officials said the suspects had already fled.
Deputies later discovered that six gunshot victims between the ages of 15 and 20 were being treated at two local hospitals. Four of them were listed in stable condition and two are listed in critical condition, said Deanna Pecoraro, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
Sheriff’s officials said a preliminary investigation revealed that an altercation occurred outside the party near the street, which resulted in gunfire, after which all parties fled the area.
Authorities did not provide any suspect descriptions and said the investigation was ongoing.
