A 2-inch natural gas line was ruptured in the Norco area Tuesday, forcing residents of 10 homes to shelter in place while crews worked to cap the leak.
The leak was reported around 9:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of Center Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Fire officials initially reported that 10 homes were being evacuated, but later said sheriff’s deputies met with residents of the affected homes and instructed them to shelter in place. No injuries were reported.
Southern California Gas Co. crews were called to the scene to cap the line.
It was not immediately clear what caused the rupture in the line.
