The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose two-tenths of a cent Sunday to $4.844.
The average price is 1 cent less than one week ago, 4.5 cents more than one month ago, and 85 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.529 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5.
The national average price rose for the fifth consecutive day, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $3.594. It is 3 cents more than one week ago and 1 cent higher than one month ago, but 78.8 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.422 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“Gas demand barely budged from last week, yet compared to this time in 2022, it is higher nationwide except for the Gulf Coast, Texas, and New Mexico,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “Some industry experts speculate that scorching temps in that region are keeping people off the road.”
